FAQs

What kind of heels should I buy for Heels Class?

Buying a dance heel can be a little overwhelming however if you stick to these few tips, it can make your life easier!

  1. Heels Height - Ideally 3 to 4 inches is the standard height HOWEVER start where you are comfortable and work your way up. A great way to check is by measuring an existing pair of heels to start.

  2. Heels Width - Stiletto. The thicker the heel, the more stability you’ll have. This being said, heels dancing is based around the stiletto and you will have an easier time starting with it at a lower heel height than adapting to a thinner heel later.

  3. Shoe Bottom - Smooth bottom with NO platform. You want a smooth bottom (not black rubber or fabric) to make it easier to move as well as not mark up the dance floor. Platforms don’t allow you to feel the floor making you less stable and overall increases you risk of injury.

  4. Open Toe - Though you can have either open or closed shoes, open toes allows more ease for floor work and makes your feet look longer.

  5. Laces and Zippers - Laced shoes are ideal because you can get the maximum ankle support and attachment to your foot. My preference is both laces and a zipper because they give maximum support while making it very quick to take on and off.

Where can I buy Heels dance shoes?

Online. Usually walk-in stores do not carry dance heels all season long so your safest bet is to buy them online. These are a few brands that are often used in the dance industry: AliExpress, Burju, LightInTheBox, JoHeela. There are many other brands as well so explore!

How will I know what level I’m at?

Just ask! I’m more than happy to give feedback on where I think you’d be best placed and will contact you if I think you are incorrectly placed. A great way to begin to know what level you’re at is by taking a drop-in class and seeing how challenging you find it.

How will I know when your programs become available?

Stay up to date on my instagram as I will be posting about my upcoming programs and classes regularly!

What is the benefit of taking a private vs group class?

A group class is catered to the entire group where many students may need to work on an overall concept of idea. A private class is individually catered to you as a dancer on what you need and want to work on as well as gives you the opportunity for feedback and helpful tips that you may not receive in a group class. Private dance classes are often the fastest way to improve your dancing ability.
